Last Saturday we took to the woods seeking shade and the cool breezes that sweep off of mountain streams for the fourth installment in our Trail Seekers Challenge. The beautiful scenery and refreshing waters of the the Little North Santiam Trail made for a great getaway from the sudden heatwave in the Willamette Valley and we had the welcome company of a few of you fellow adventurers to enjoy as well.
The trail itself is a hidden gem of the area, stretching only 4.5 miles long for a one way, two car shuttle trip or 9 miles for a nice out and back. The shady paths created by a canopy of old growth trees are a welcome relief from the at times crowded centers of Jawbone Flats and Three Pools recreation areas located nearby. Its popularity extends to hikers, backpackers, runners and swimmers so we’re sure you’ll find something to love on your next visit. Enjoy a few photos from our weekend excursion:
