In August Sue Nelson and friends completed the Sierra High Route (SHR). The SHR is a 195-mile (not counting resupplies or exiting) trekking route that runs north-south across the heart of the Sierra Nevada Range, through Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Park, John Muir Wilderness, Ansel Adams Wilderness, and Yosemite National Park. Sixty percent of the High Route is off-trail, posing challenges both physical and mental as you attempt to navigate dangerous, unmarked terrain. You cross over 33 mountain passes, almost always on the ubiquitous steep boulders or talus. Join us as Sue shares her experience on the trail in pictures and words. Don’t be surprised if you come away with a new trail to put on the bucket list!
Thank you to everyone who came out tonight, and a special thanks to Sue for sharing the story of her amazing trip!
As promised here is the resources document that Sue created for her trip for anyone interested in heading into the high country.
